Frame-rate is king in e-Sports, which explains the current rush for higher refresh rates on gaming monitors. Besides, EVGA GeForce usually steals the spotlight in a critical market segment by significantly undercutting competitors. Before getting to review the EVGA GeForce RTX 20606 GB KO Gaming Video Card, let's understand what a gaming card is.

What is a Gaming Video Card?

A gaming video card ( also known as graphics card, display card, video card, video adapter, VGA card or display adapter is an expansion card that usually creates a feed of output images to a display device like a computer motor. Mostly, these are marketed as separate or dedicated graphics cards, stressing the difference between these and integrated graphics. But, of course, the graphics processing unit (GPU) is the major component that conducts computations in both. Still, it should not be mistaken with the graphics card as a whole, even though "GPU" is frequently used as a metonymic shortcut to refer to graphics card.

Now that we understand what a gaming video card is let's check out the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Gaming Video Card.

Factors to Consider When Buying EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB KO

1. Appearance

The new version of EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO usually enters the ring with a ONE-TWO PUNCH to any willing challenger. The new additions to EVGA's RTX series are the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO and RTX 2060 KO Ultra gaming card. They have superior cooling, great overclocking, and excellent performance.

i). NVIDIA® Turing

The all-new RTX platform and Turing GPU architecture usually power GeForce® RTX graphics cards. This improves performance over previous generations of graphics cards and adds the capabilities of real-time ray tracing and AI to games.

ii). Hydrodynamic bearings fans

The first HDB fan on an NVIDIA graphics card improves airflow, boosts cooling performance, and reduces fan noise by 15 percent compared to other regularly used sleeve-bearing fans on graphics cards. In addition, the bigger fan's distinctive upraised 'E' design provides for a 4% reduction in noise level.

iii). RTX ON

With ray tracing, you can see every game come to life with physically precise shadows, reflections, and lighting. In addition, you can use Tensor Cores for super-powerful AI processing. These GPUs are ideal for intense gamers due to advanced memory, performance increases, and processing innovations.

2. Packaging

It is important to check out the packaging. Knowing what the packaging looks like might be useful if you are concerned about obtaining legitimate goods from a third-party retailer. This gaming card will come in a package that is normal in size for a video card. Besides, the EVGA Geforce RTX 2060 KO Gaming Card is, of course, in an anti-static bag and is tightly encased in foam and bubble wrap housing. Therefore, your card is secure and sound in terms of packing. The contents include EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO and the installation guide.

3. Software

Precision X1

The new EVGA Precision X1 software is quicker, simpler, and better than ever, with a completely new interface, codebase, features, and more. The new EVGA Precision X1 will unleash its full potential when combined with an NVIDIA Turing graphics card with a built-in overclock scanner, configurable frequency curve, and RGB LED control.

 i). New OC Scanner

Test the newest generation of EVGA's GPU stress testing application, including new test settings and test modes.

ii). RGB LED

All-new RGB LED control for graphics cards as well as NVLink Bridges. Although this card lacks RGB, we wanted to show you what the software looked like.

iii). Multi-GPU Fan Control

You may change the fan speed, curve, or create a profile. Using a more user-friendly interface, adjust the fans on each of your graphics cards.

4. Design

The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming is a factory-tuned, dual-slot video card with dimensions of 202.1 x 111.1 x 39.6mm (7.9 x 4.3 x 1.5 inches). The gaming card is smaller than most full-size GPUs and fits flat against the top and I/O plate. Given its size, the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB KO Gaming Video Card should fit in multiple small form factor (SFF) systems and bigger chassis. Therefore, before you buy, double-check the space within your case.

EVGA's cooling system uses two 85mm fans to cool all crucial components, including the VRAM, GPU, and MOSFETs. The GPU comes into a copper plate and two copper heat pipes, which direct heat away from the core. Thick thermal pads in contact with the fins keep the memory and MOSFETs cool. The manufacturer doubled up the thermal pads on the 3-memory ICs. However, such thick thermal pads are not the most efficient technique of removing heat from these components, and some of them will travel inside the PCB. The metal backplate serves as a protective layer and a heat sink for the memory chips.

Compared to more costly RTX 2060 SKUs, the smaller heatsink usually uses fewer heat pipes, presumably contributing to the cost savings. Though it effectively kept the crucial elements cool throughout testing, the fan noise level was louder than the competitors. EVGA decided not to integrate RGB lighting, contributing to the manufacturer's cheap pricing point.

The RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming uses a 4+2-phase VRM to power the GPU and memory. An ON Semiconductor NCP81611 four-channel controller manages the power delivery. Conversely, a UPI uP1666Q controller manages the memory. A single 8-pin PCIe connection usually supplies power to the board. In theory, this setup permits up to 225W of power, significantly more than the 160W power limit, providing the card plenty of power for stock and overclocked operation.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB KO Gaming Video Card features only one DVI-D, one HDMI, and one DisplayPort visual output option. Compared to the standard RTX 2060, which has two DisplayPorts, one DVI-D, one HDMI, and a USB Type-C VirtualLink connector, you can see where EVGA took shortcuts to save money. However, the three ports on the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO should be enough for most gamers.

5. Gaming performance

Here's the gaming performance of the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Gaming card on some games.

We test Grand Theft Auto V with all parameters set to Very High, FXAA enabled, and all Advanced Graphics options except extended shadows turned on. Since its first release, GTA V has operated on the RAGE engine and has had several upgrades. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Gaming card has a rating of 100 on 1080p and 86 on 1440p, while EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming Card has a rating of102 on 1080p and 87 on 1440p.

vii). Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Although it runs in DX11, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and its AnvilNext 2.0 engine dramatically destroy GPUs—so much so that we tested it on Very High instead of Ultra settings. As a result, the EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Gaming card has a rating of 100 on 1080p and 78 on 1440p, while EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming Card has a rating of 102 on 1080p and 79 on 1440p.

viii). Total War: Three Kingdoms

Most of the games we tested are shooters or adventure games, but Total War: Three Kingdoms was added to give us a taste of RTS performance. It's another DX11 title, operating on an enhanced version of the engine used in Creative Assembly's previous Total War titles. The EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Gaming card has a rating of 66 on 1080p and 44 on 1440p, while EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 KO Ultra Gaming Card has a rating of 68 on 1080p and 44 on 1440p.
