Assassin's Creed
  • English (Publication Language)

Perhaps one of the most original and captivating games of its time, the first Assassin's Creed game won the hearts of many fans with its throwback game optics and storytelling. Acting as the character Altair ibn La-Ahab, you murdered and impaled your way through highly interactive medieval cities in the Middle East.

Although the original release in 2007 led to a long series of sequels that would eventually overlap the initial release in terms of gameplay, one of the main knocks on the game was the length of completion time and the repetitiveness that inevitably took place after the completion of the basic missions.

As the first Assassin's Creed game, its first installment involved Desmond Miles, voiced by Nolan North, waking in a laboratory in the Animus. This is a machine that allows the guy to relive the memories of their ancestors. This man then goes ahead to confront the man who brought him in the Animus, only to be blackmailed by Vidic (Phil Proctor).

When Desmond arrives in Animus, he starts with Altair's story, which involves retrieving the golden orb. When he fails in the mission, the weapons and ranks are taken away from him. To be able to reclaim his title back, he has to go on a mission to assassinate the nine members of the Templar organization. Altair should collect the data of every target along the way and be able to report back.

In between the trails, Desmond will be allowed to rest. This is where he becomes close with Lucy Stillman, who is Dr. Vidic's assistant and is voiced as Kristen Bell. In addition, Desmond also learns about the modern-day Templars in the brief breaks. Ideally, the game follows Desmond Moles as he passes through the memories of his ancestors in the Holy Land. However, in modern times, some scenes also take place in New York.

Requirements

This game is quite simple to run as it only requires a DirectX 9.0-compatible graphics card, 8 GB of storage space, 2 GB of memory, and a dual-core processor, 2 GB of memory. This makes it a great option for gamers with budget gaming PCs.

2. Assassin’s Creed II (2009)

Assassin's Creed II: Platinum Hits Edition
  • Explore the deadly, shadowed world of the assassin with new assassin Ezio
  • Roam freely through the lush and dangerous world of Renaissance-era Italy
  • Do whatever it takes to complete your missions in the game's all-new open world...
  • Thrive in an environment rich with power, revenge and conspiracy

Taking you out of the middle east and into 1500s Italy, Assassin's Creed II offered a highly improved gaming experience when compared to the original. Playing as Ezio Auditore da Firenze, you were able to play a very assorted number of tasks, which allowed for the second iteration of the game to be more enjoyable when compared to the first. In addition, tools in the game such as Eagle Vision, Combat, and Stealth were all highly improved, attracting more gamers than they had before.

In this second Assassin's Creed game, the story of Desmond continues as he tries to avoid the templars that are chasing him. With the help of the past ancestor, Desmond trains to become a modern-day assassin. The Animus goes into the memories of Ezio, and the story begins in the 15th century Renaissance.

Enzio witnesses as his brothers and father are hung. As a result, he escapes the city and runs to his uncle Mario's villa. In the quest for revenge, Enzio gains some allies, of which one of them is the legendary Leonardo De Vinci. Using schematics found in Altair's Codex pages, De Vinci enhanced many of the assassin tools that Ezio took from his father. Unfortunately, both Dr. Vidic and Desmond get into a roadblock once they discover some parts of the Enzio memories are being protected and can't be detected by Animus.

Requirements

The Assassin's Creed II game will easily run on any modern system, without a problem. However, it requires you to have at least 2 GB of RAM, 7 GB of hard drive space, a video card with 512MB of VRAM, and an AMD Athlon II X4 620 or Intel Core Duo E8200 processor.

3. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (2010)

  • As Ezio, a legendary Master Assassin, experience over 15 hours of single player...
  • Recruit and train promising young Assassins. Deploy them across the city as you...
  • Collaborate with real historical characters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Niccolo...

Many fans consider Brotherhood to be the best game in the Assassin's Creed series. It is based on a continued journey through the story of Ezio and builds on much of the storyline of Assassin's Creed II. This game had an excellent single-player experience and added better combat, devices made by Leonardo da Vinci, and new recruiting techniques for assassins.

Another fun addition to the third installment was that of multiplayer mode. This allowed you to play out the storyline with friends but surprisingly did not deduct anything from the single-player experience.

The Assassin's Creed Brotherhood game continues from where the previous games left off. The gang, which includes Desmond, Lucy, Rebecca, etc., sets up camp in Villa Auditore to hide from the Templar. After that, Desmond returns to the life of Ezio.

The story of Ezio continues when he exits the Vault in 1499 and returns home with his uncle Mario (Fred Tatasciore), who is later killed by Cesare. Ezio begins to restore Rome to its original state after the death of his uncle. He does this by assassinating the main players in Cesare's organizing and sabotaging all his resources. Ezio recovers that Apple, and when Desmond resurfaces, he is able to retrieve the Apple.

Requirements

When it comes to the system requirements, the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood game is also not demanding. You only need to have at least 2GB of memory, 8 GB of hard drive space, a DirectX 9.0 video card, and a dual-core processor.

  • Award-winning Multiplayer Continues to Innovate - All new online characters,...
  • Added-Value Bonus Gameplay - New! - For the first time in franchise history,...

Coming in as somewhat of a dud, Revelations was the third installment of the story of Ezio. This version took place in the cities of Turkey under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. The basis for this game was mainly just the continuation of a storyline, as there were not many improvements or additions to the gameplay. The hook blade was one of the only new features available and allowed players to zip around the skylines of the city and offer more diverse assassination techniques.

In the Assassin's Creed: Revelations, you can see all the three major characters, including Ezio, Desmond, and Altair. Enzio travels to Constantinople in 1511 AD, where Constantinople is divided into four districts Bayezid, Galata, Imperial, and Constantine. The Templars will mainly populate the underground city of Cappadocia, where Enzio starts his journey.

Ezio finds an Altair sealed in an ancient artifact which could easily end the Templars. He uses the relics in the first civilization to retrieve Altair's experiences and memories like Desmond did. However, in the present day, Desmond is trapped in Animus 2.0, where he gets a safe mode called Black room. This is where he finds a key memory that links him back up with Ezio and Altair and also wakes him up from the comatose state.

Requirements

In terms of system requirements, Assassin's Creed Revelations game is also easy to run for most PC games. It only requires 2 GB of RAM, 12 GB of space, a DirectX 9.0-compatible GPU, and a dual-core processor.

Assassin's Creed III made another storyline jump from that of Ezio in Europe to Ratonhnhaketon in America during the Civil War era. This was a drastic change compared to the first three versions as you moved from an only urban environment to that of a more rural wilderness-driven theme.

This game introduced changes to the weather, numerous new weapons, and the hunting of wildlife. Despite the new adaptation, this game mostly seemed to fall flat. Having lots of promise with the story of a half-Native American assassin going undercover in Colonial America, the plot seemed to have a lot of holes leading to a questionable storyline.

The Assassin's Creed III was during the American Revolution in the 18th century. This game also introduced a new character Ratonhnhaketon, who is also known as Connor. Connor's father is the Master of the Templar Order of the colonies. Desmond and the hand find the Temple of the first civilization after the Revelations.

They are able to access it using the apple of Eden. Due to Juno's influence, Desmond experiences the life of Haytham Kenway in 1754 England as he reenters Animus. He learns that the key won't open the Temple. When Conner is born, this perspective won't switch from Haytham to him.

Requirements

The system required for the game will be a bit heavier than the first four games. However, if you have a GPU and CPU that has come out in the previous 7 to 8 years, then you should be able to run the Assassin's Creed III without any issues.

6. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013)

If you polled every Assassin's Creed player who has taken part in playing the franchise, you would most likely find that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is the best game to date in the series. You play the role of Edward Kenway, an older generation of Native American characters in the previous game.

Most of the experience is taken from land to the sea with the introduction of naval battles and the concept of building your own guild of assassins. The change of scenery was a welcome alteration and really added to the overall enjoyment of Black Flag.

You might be tempted to think that Desmond dying would be the end of Absergo asking him for information about his ancestors, but that's not the case. They instead take Desmond's corpse samples to allow them to continue getting his memories with the Animus' cloud computing abilities. Absergo goes ahead to hire someone to look into the memories so that he can relive the life of Edward Kenway.

Edward Kenway was an 18th century pirate and grandfather of Conner from the previous game. He uncovers a plot between Templars in the British and Spanish empires. They tend to use their positions of power to pinpoint the Sage. The Sage is the only person that can lead them to the Observatory, which is a First Civilization device that can be used to spy on anyone anywhere. Edward is driven to the Templar-Assassin society after accidentally killing Duncan.

Requirements

A small expansion in system requirements is seen when it comes to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. However, you won't really need a very expensive or high-end gaming desktop to run the game. This game needs a least an AMD Phenom II x4 940 processor or an Intel Core i5-2400S, 30 GB of storage, 4 GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD4870 or an NVIDIA GTX 260.

Rogue was the last Assassin's Creed game set in the early colonies of America. Much like Revelations, this third installment of the same time period and location seemed to come up a bit short. In this game, you play the role of a Templar as opposed to an Assassin. Although this version had fun naval battles and no poor gaming mechanics, hunting assassins just did not seem to have the same appeal as the versions prior, as many players had come to enjoy the storyline of playing the justice-seeking assassin.

In the Assassin's Creed Rogue game, the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassins adds a new recruit called Shay Patrick Cormac. He meets another assassin called Adewale while training in the North Atlantic chapter. However, Adewale brings sad news of an earthquake that destroyed Port-au-Prince.

Shay is appointed to investigate the interest in the Precursor artifact and manuscript, which links Templar to the Temple in Port-au-Prince. Shay will then impersonate the Templar courier and deliver the artifacts to Benjamin Franklin, voiced by Rick Jones. Benjamin conducts experiments to come up with a map that indicates all the locations of the Precursor temples. Shay is sent to receive a piece of Eden from a temple in Lisbon.

He learns the danger in retrieving a piece of Eden, so he chooses to stop the mission and instead steal the manuscript to ensure no more destruction will happen. However, the Brotherhood caught him and shot him before he could get to the manuscript.

Requirements

The Assassin's Creed Rogue system's requirements are definitely a step up from the other games. However, modern systems should be able to handle it properly. The game needs to have an AMD FX-6100 or Intel Core i5 2400s processor, 12 GB of storage space, 4 GB of memory, an AMD Radeon HD 6870 video card or an NVIDIA GTX 560Ti.

Unity has been the butt of many jokes over the past few years, mainly because the game glitches have been some of the worst ever seen. The game takes you back to Europe and has you play as Arno Dorian, who fights for a greater Paris during the time of the French Revolution. The addition of new weapons such as the Phantom Blade was enjoyable, but the amount of freezing and the issues with frame-rate probably put Unity as one of the worst games in the series.

The Assassin's Creed Unity starts in 1307, where Templar hides a book and sword in a crypt. He did this before he was assassinated. A flash-forward memory of Molay's death and him cursing Pope Clement V and King Philip IV is seen.

Bishop, who is a member of the modern-day Assassin Brotherhood, takes control of the memories in the present times. This memory is pushed to Versailles in 1776, where Arno Dorian meets Elise De La Serre, the daughter of Templar Master. Later on, Arno is seen sneaking to a party to meet up with Elise. After sneaking in, he finds the Master has been murdered and is mistaken as a killer.

However, he escapes from prison and returns home to Elise, only to be rejected. He later joins Brotherhood and finds all the Templars who are involved with De La Serre's murder the targets.

Requirements

Although Assassin's Creed Unity was released the same year as Assassin's Creed, it has a step up when it comes to system requirements. Most modern gaming laptops or PCs can handle the Assassin's Creed Unity game. You need to have at least an AMD FX-8350 processor or Intel Core i7-3770, Radeon an R9 290X or GTX 780 video card, 50GB of storage space, and 8 GB of RAM.

Syndicate served as a nice rebound for Ubisoft from what many considered to be a total flop with Unity. The game allowed you to play as a female character for the first time and introduced a fun dual-protagonist scheme.

Taking place in Victorian Era London, you were able to play as Jacob and Evie, two twins, who were capable of using fun new weapons, and melee techniques. The syndicate also included exciting objectives and a plethora of side adventures which allowed for an engaging experience.

In the Assassin's Creed Syndicate game, an assassin initiate is called to relive the lives of assassins. The assassins are said to be twins Evie and Jacob Frye, and the task is to find a piece of Eden. However, since London was already overtaken by Templar (Crawford Starrick), getting the piece of Eden is a challenging task.

Crawford's agenda was to improve the Templar's political power, but the Frye twins had already started corrupting. The twins went to London to meet an acquaintance of their father. They started defeating Templar gangs and killing high-ranking Templars. Finally, they end up forming a gang known as Rooks and recruit different people in their mission.

Requirements

The system requirements for Assassin's Creed Syndicate require at least 50 GB of storage space, 8 GB of RAM, AMD FX-8350 CPU or Intel Core i7-3770, and Radeon R9 280X or a GTX 760.

  • Reveal the origin story through a tale of the first Assassin on a fearless quest...
  • Attack multiple enemies at once and string together devastating combos with all...

Origins were considered somewhat of a rebirthing, for now, 10-year-old series. It took you back to ancient Egypt and introduced highly improved hand-to-hand combat, animation systems, and damage interactions. One of the largest changes that Origins brought was the addition of the hitbox.

This allowed for player attacks to damage multiple opponents at once and vice-versa. Unlike the older additions of the game, this version also offered both rural and urban landscapes. Often switching between the dense cities and open wilderness of ancient Egypt, Origins was a refreshingly diverse addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise.

In Assassin's Creed Origins, you're taken back to 49 BCE to Bayek and his son Khemu. However, they get abducted by a group of masked men and taken to the Vault in the Temple of Amun. The masked men then give Bayek an apple of Eden and try to open the secret Vault. However, while Bayek tries to escape their captors, he kills Khemu.

Bayek's goal is now to kill all the men responsible for the death of his father. This quest leads him to go to various locations, including Alexandria and Siwa. When he got to Alexandria, Bayek came across Cleopatra, who told him that there were more than five men involved in the death. There is an order known as the Order of Ancients whose task was to take over Egypt. Cleopatra also goes ahead to tell Bayek who members of this order and asks him to kill them.

Requirements

The Assassin's Creed Origins doesn't have different system requirements from Assassin's Creed Unity despite being released two years after it. You need at least an AMD FX-8350 processor or Intel Core i7-3770, 50 GB of storage space, 8 GB of RAM, and Radeon R9 280X or GTX 760 graphics card.

  • Become a legendary Greek hero - In a first for the Assassin's Creed franchise,...

  • Fight epic battles - Demonstrate your extraordinary warrior abilities and shift...

As the latest installment of the series, Odyssey places you as a Spartan soldier for hire, who comes upon a murderous cult who are secretly behind much of the actions in the Peloponnesian war. Your goal in this game comes in the form of attempting to bring peace to the ancient Greek world and end the war.

The game also makes the return to the naval battles of iterations past and focuses on lots of RPG gameplay, allowing the choice between the play as two characters in the story. Although there are more advanced features to the skill tree that was built off of Origins, the game does not offer many new additions.

The story of the Assassin's Creed Odyssey starts with a battle of Thermopylae between the Persians and Spartans. The leader of the Spartans, King Leonidas, wins this battle but is later informed that Persians have found a way to the mountain. Within this time, King Leonidas spear had been recovered, and it has DNA that can be used to activate Animus.

In the Animus, the memory will start with Misthios as a child. Misthios runs to the island of Kephallonis after they are off the mountain. Later on, Misthios is told to assassinate the wolf of Sparta, where he finds out that the wolf of Sparta is Nikolaos. Misthios goes to the Delph, where they come across Herodotos and are alerted of the Cult of Kosmos, which wants their family and them to die. Misthios' goal is to clear the cult before it takes over Greece and kills them all.

Requirements

Unlike the previous Assassin's Creed Games, the Assassin's Creed Odyssey is slightly more demanding when it comes to system requirements. Despite this, it is able to run on most mid-range laptops and desktops. The system requirements include a Radeon R9 290 or a GTX 970 video card, 46 GB of storage space, 8 GB of memory and a Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i7-3770 processor

The Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is set in both England and Norway, with Eivor being the main character. Eivor invades England to get useful resources for his people. He is required to play diplomat to groups such as Danes, Picts, Saxons, among others. So, if you like Vikings, then you will definitely enjoy playing this final game.

However, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a bit different from other Assassins Creed games. This is because building alliances with different groups in England creates a different type of role-playing in the game. Also, you're allowed to make your own customized settlement, raid the land for resources and later build up your own wealth.

You also have the ability to customize your character using the skill tree. You can choose either a powerful warlord or a classic assassin based on the skills you pick. Furthermore, Eivor can be either female or male based on the character to choose at the start of the game.

At the beginning of Assassins Creed Valhalla, you go back to 9th-century in Norway only to see a Viking town getting raided by the warlord Kjotve with the eyes of Eivor Varinsdottir. In the later years, Eivor leads the clan to England and sets the course forward for your clansmen. During this Assassin's Creed game, Eivor comes across the hidden ones and joins them in battling the Order of Ancients.

Requirements

Of all the Assassin's Creed's previous games mentioned above, Assassin's Creed is the most demanding game when it comes to system requirements. It requires at least 8 GB of RAM, R9 380 or GTX 960 GPU, and Ryzen 3 1200 or i5-4460 CPU. Therefore the recommended system requirements are RX 570 or GTX 1060 GPU, 8 GB of RAM, and Ryzen 5 1600 or i74790 CPU. This game also requires 1440P and 4K systems. However, the 4K gameplay requires a Ryzen 7 3700X or i7-9700K, 16 GB of RAM, and an RX 5700XT or RTX 2080 GPU.

Assassin's Creed Games In Order Spin-Off Games

Apart from the main games, there are twelve other Assassin's Creed spin-off games. However, some of these games are only available on some systems, not all. They are often smaller, simpler, and mostly for handheld gameplay. But if you want to have a full experience of the Assassin's Creed games, you should consider these ones too.

During this first game in the spin-off, the OG assassin has some time in the limelight, in the 1100s. He journeys with Altair while crossing over Tyre, Jerusalem, and other Middle East locations, as they look for a chalice.

Ideally, this game is used as a prequel to the other games in the Assassin's Creed series. A few more missions, games, and lifetimes were to be seen after this game, as well as new skills such as pickpocketing to improve the experience. It is playable on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Java ME, Nintendo DS, WebOS, and Symbian.

He steals the interest of the head Templar. He later goes to gather intel for the Brotherhood. He continues to do what is required of him while still getting close to the woman he took captive.

Altair and the woman later go on on a mission to find the archive and destroy them. However, the players are never introduced to the subject connected to Animus. The Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines focused on feeling more like the first game while still trying to connect the story bits in the first two games. However, this spin-off game provides more power which allows the game to feel like games in the main series.

In the Assassin's Creed II: Discovery, Ezio looks for Spanish Assassins by trying to complete the tasks before him. He is required to make difficult choices when it comes to Templars. Although the side scroll style didn't impress many, this game made improvements in the handheld gameplay. You get memory-specific missions, and Ezio's stealth and parkour skills are increased. The game is only available on Nintendo DS and iOS platforms.

This game features open-world gameplay with improved graphics and a full combat system.

5. Assassin's Creed: Pirates (2013)

Released in 2013, Pirates is a mobile game that features combat on water. It is only available on Android and iOS. Like in Assassin's Creed Rogue, players have a different perspective of a captain that belongs to another faction. The main goal is to destroy the boats of Captain Alonzo. The story completely comes from our heroes and focuses on helping Alonzo.

6. Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry (2013)

The events of Freedom Cry happen after Assassin's Creed IV, and it only focuses on pirate assassins. This is another simple game that focuses on Battle Ship as players work to take down vessels. Unlike other games, the battles here are easy and different, and it is a bit hard to remember what stays in the universe.

The set is the French colony of Saint-Domingue, currently known as Haiti, between 1735 and 1737. Adewale is a prominent character from the Black Flag Assassin's Creed game. The Assassin brotherhood finds himself shipwrecked in Saint-Domingue while trying to disrupt Templar activities in the Caribbean Sea.
